Scaling Private Servers with OCI Ampere

"How we utilize Oracle's ARM-based Ampere A1 instances to achieve high-performance compute at near-zero cost."

Scaling Private Servers with OCI Ampere

The rise of ARM architecture in the data center has changed the economics of cloud computing.

The Power of Ampere A1

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) provides a generous “Always Free” tier that includes up to 4 Ampere A1 cores and 24GB of RAM. For a private system architect, this is a goldmine for scaling microservices.

Performance Metrics

In our testing, the Ampere instances showed:

  • Energy Efficiency: 3x better than traditional x86 instances for standard web workloads.
  • Node Management: Seamless integration with Kubernetes (OKE).

This project focuses on the automation of these instances using Terraform.
